Church donates food parcels
The Beauty of Christ Ministries church in KwaThema Extension Three donated food parcels to orphans, disabled people and older people on Sunday.
About 97 families in KwaThema received food parcels despite their church affiliation.
The families will not have to worry about what will be for supper for almost a week as the food parcels that they received will last for about seven days.
Bishop Sandile Nxumalo said the congregation’s dream of ensuring that there are no families that go to bed with empty stomaches has been fulfilled and he promised to do more in years to come.
He added that it is the church’s responsibility to take care of those from disadvantaged backgrounds. He said the church’s donation to the disadvantaged is not to attract more people to join his church but is to spread love and share with others.
“My pension grant is not enough to meet the needs of my family especially during this season,” said one of the beneficiaries, Merica Ndlovu.
She thanked Bishop Nxumalo for ensuring that their families also enjoy Christmas as other families do.
“If the Bishop did not provide us with these food parcels, I was not going to afford to buy groceries for my family as I still have the responsibility of buying school uniform for my grandchildren to prepare for the opening of schools next month,” said excited Ndlovu.
