Visitor robbed by two men

A man who visited his uncle in Eastvale was robbed by two suspects at around midnight on Saturday.

According to Springs police spokesman, Captain Johannes Ramphora the man was alone, sleeping in his shack when he heard a knock on the door.

He says when the victim opened the door two suspects stormed into his shack pretending to be looking for the victim’s uncle.

Capt Ramphora says after hearing that the uncle was not at home, the suspects demanded money and a cellphone from the victim before dragging him out of the shack after robbing him of his hammer that they found inside the shack.

The suspects took the victim to an open veld where they assaulted him with the hammer on the head.

The suspects left the victim in the veld, making him to spend the night there until people who were going to work on Sunday morning saw him and called an ambulance that rushed him to the Far East Rand Hospital.

No arrests have been made yet and the police appeal for the community’s assistance to arrest the suspects.
