Three brothers from Slovo Park who were on their way home from a nearby tavern, were attacked by three suspects around 1am.
Springs spokesman, Captain Johannes Ramphora, says the suspects stabbed one of the brothers in the stomach before robbing him of his shoes and a cellphone while the two other brothers ran for their lives.
He continues to say that the nearby community members who saw the incident came to the victim’s rescue. They caught two of the suspects but the third suspect managed to escape.
“The mob attacked the two suspects which resulted in serious injuries suffered by one of them and they were taken to the Far East Rand Hospital for treatment,” says Capt Ramphora.
He added that the victim was also rushed to the hospital where he died two hours after his arrival. After the suspects were treated, they were discharged and later arrested for armed robbery and murder.
