Woman raped by two suspects

A woman was raped by two suspects on her way home from visiting her relative.

The incident happened on January 1 at 9pm when the victim was walking with her two boys aged five and six in Bheki street in Gugulethu/ Everest informal settlement to their home.

Captain Johannes Ramphora of the Springs police says the victim was approached by two suspects who demanded money and a cell phone before forcing the children to leave the scene. He says the suspects then dragged the victim next to the railway line where they raped her.

Police are looking for the suspects and urge anyone with information that may lead to the rapists’ arrest to contact the Springs police on 011 365 5700/19/20.
