Fun ends in blood
A man was allegedly killed by a police officer at Bluegum View in Duduza on Saturday.
According to the Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, a police constable was at his girlfriend’s home when the incident took place.
He says it is alleged that the deceased, who was also at the same house having fun with his friends, walked out of the house, allegedly to the toilet and the suspect followed him.
He says a few minutes later five shots were fired and the victim was found dead in a pool of blood. “At this stage, a cause for the shooting is unknown and the investigation is still underway,” says Captain Ramphora.
The victim, who suffered severe injuries to his whole body, died on the scene and the police constable was arrested and his 9mm pistol was confiscated.
He appeared in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court on Monday facing a murder charge and was remanded in custody until his next appearance on January 24.
At the time of going to print, the African Reporter’s attempts to contact the deceased’s family were not successful.
