Captain Johannes Ramphora of the Springs police says the woman was walking alone along Porter Street when an unknown man approached her.
He says suddenly a Blue Sentra stopped next to the woman and a man forced her to get into the car.
“When the woman refused to get inside the car, the man pushed her until she fell down,” says Ramphora.
He added that a woman, who was with the other suspects inside the car, ran to grab the child and fled the scene.
Ramphora says it is suspected that the kidnappers drove in the direction of Tsakane.
The police urge anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the Springs police on 011 365 5700/19/20.
