Captain Johannes Ramphora of the Springs police says the victim was chilling with his friend in a tavern on Sunday around 4am when the suspect came in.
He says the suspect needed R1 to add to the R2 that he had to be able to buy a loose cigarette and asked for help from the victim.
“The victim bought a cigarette and smoked it before giving it to the suspect and the suspect attacked him,” says Ramphora. He says the victim then ran away to the Springs Police Station to open a case of assault.
