The new face of KwaThema police

Captain Mandla Phori (42) is the new communications officer at KwaThema police.

Phori is a married family man with two girls.

He did his primary schooling in Duduza at Mzimkhulu Primary School and proceeded to NN Ndebele Secondary School in Duduza.

Phori was previously stationed at Dunnotar Police Station as the visible policing commander, however, during his 20 years experience in the South African Police Service he has served as a communications officer for many years.

Phori is from Struisbuilt and says being a policeman is not something that he does just to make ends meet but believes that it is something he was brought into this world to do.

Talking about his life as a family man and a member of the community Phori says he likes spending time with his family and go to church.

“My family is all that I have and I also believe that in whatever that I do God is always there giving me the wisdom, courage and strength to succeed,” says Phori.

He says the community should always come forward and report any crime that they witness in their areas.

“The community’s involvement in the fight against crime is the strongest tool that helps the police fight against criminal activities that lead to many community members living in fear of their lives,” says Phori.

He believes that ‘planning is for men but success depends on God’.

He promised the KwaThema community that the police will work hard to serve and protect them at all times.

Phori also urges community members to ensure that they use the sector cell phone numbers written on the police vehicles.

“Make the police your friend and report any criminal activities in your area,” Phori concludes.
