Women of Calvary believe in prayer
Calvary Women's Prayer Team believes that prayer is the answer in all situations.
The team has existed for four years and was formed by women from different churches in Tsakane who believe in the power of prayer.
It consists of 15 members who meet every Wednesday to plan their next step.
According to Cynthia Maimane, the team’s events organiser, they formed the team with the aim of bringing back the lost hope to those who are in jail and to their families.
She says they visit prisons to pray for the offenders and encourage them to be strong until they complete their sentences.
“The one thing that breaks my heart when visiting the prisons is to see young people serving long sentences,” says Maimane.
She adds that despite the sentences that the prisoners serve, the team is praying for them asking God to show them light and restore their dignity when they come back to the community.
Maimane says the Calvary team also helps give food parcels and clothes to disadvantaged families. She appeals to other women to form teams that will help take care of those who need help the most.
“Women have the power to change the world and it is time that we take a responsibility to change our communities for the best,” says Maimane.
