Local organisation wins at the national youth club awards

Hard work recognized and honored.

It was a night of celebrating and shining at the second Southern African Association of Youth Clubs’ (SAAYC) Dreamers Awards.

The awards were held in Newtown, Johannesburg on February 21.

Four of the five categories were scooped by organisations and a team from Gauteng, amongst them Nokuphila Community Service.

The organisation took home two cheques valued at R20 000.

Nokuphila was also a recipient of a special prize, awarded to the youth club that embodies the principles of SAAYC founder Mokoka Sechebela, a well-known youth development practitioner who died in 2012.

SAAYC chairperson Lwazi Mboyi says the awards intend to, “acknowledge innovation and identify creativity and leadership qualities amongst the youth.”

The categories of the awards include education, arts, social, entrepreneurship, sports and the Mokoka Seshabele award.
