Captain Johannes Ramphora says the suspect borrowed R400 from his victim who is also his relative and failed to pay it back.
Ramphora says it is alleged that the suspect ganged up with six friends to attack the victim, who was with his younger brother, on Sunday night.
Adding that after assaulting the victim and tying him and his brother up, the suspects also stole groceries to the value of R3 000 and an undisclosed amount of money from the victim’s house.
One suspect was arrested on Monday and is facing a house robbery charge.
The Springs police is still looking for the other six suspects.
