Ward 80 hosts women and children abuse campaign
Churches help in the fight against abuse

Ward 80 women and children sector wanted to avoid conventional methods, for their campaign on women and children abuse.
They opted to take their campaign to the Presbyterian church, in Ramothibe Street, Masimini section, KwaThema on Saturday.
Sector leader, Zandi Dzingwa said the event is part of the programmes run by the ward committee, which were included in their year plan.
“Campaigning in the streets is not the only option, churches can also be platforms where social issues are raised and discussed,” explained Zandi.
She said the timing of this event is meant to coincide with the period of Easter holiday, as they expect an influx of people to churches.
She said the school holidays also influenced the timing of the event.
“We also want to use this opportunity to urge parents not to be negligent, not to allow children to wander off unsupervised, or lock children in the house alone,” pleaded Zandi.
The campaign is expected to be hosted in the six voting districts, which make up ward 80.
