Kuso encourages healthy living

Kutlwano Social Organisation (Kuso) held its Wellness and Heritage Day event last Wednesday.

The event held at KwaThema Sports Complex was aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle.

On the day more than 1 500 people from in and around Kwatsaduza took part in the programme.

At 7am participants started with a 10km fun walk before joining the aerobics training class.

This year’s event was blessed by the presence of mayor, Mondli Gungubele, metro’s chief whip Robert Mashego and MMC for sports, heritage, recreation, arts and culture Zeni Tshongweni.

To encourage healthy living, the Ekurhuleni Mobile Clinic tested participants for different diseases such as HIV, TB and diabetes at no cost.

Matshele Motlhabane , Kuso PRO, said because of the increasing number of overweight people in the township and the increase of deaths related to being overweight, the organisation wants to encourage people to live healthily.

Giving a key note address, Mashego encouraged the communities of Ekurhuleni to embrace different cultures as it is stated in the constitution of the country.

Gungubele encouraged the participants to use the fun walk as the opportunity to come together, network and reconnect with others.

He reminded them about the spirit of giving to those in need.

Gungubele concluded by urging Kuso to take a leading role in assisting communities to eradicate poverty.
