Kalule Everine is a professional hairdresser and owns her own shop.

She says she started hairdressing at a very young age and would practice her craft at her mothers salon.

She adds that hairdressing requires you to be patient and passionate about the career because it takes a long time to understand the different chemicals when styling or relaxing hair

She says the basics of any hairdresser would be relaxing, perming and plaiting hair.

“I love the reaction clients give when I have done their hair” she says.

She says she used to go to “Dark and lovely” seminars and workshops which helped her improve.

In order for one to be a hairdresser, Everine says one must have a matric certificate, at least a certificate program in styling, other forms of appearance training, basic cosmetology and coloring.

She concludes by encouraging aspiring hairdressers to be sure they love what they do.
