No more barefoot
The From a Girl to a Woman organisation donated brand new school shoes to 20 learners at Michael Zulu Primary School in Tsakane last Friday.
The organisation’s project manager, Nomvuyo Sebeko, said after realising that many learners are forced to miss school during the cold days, the organisation knew that these learners needed assistance.
“We want to ensure that no child misses school because he does not have shoes to wear to school,” said Sebeko.
She said her organisation believes that education holds the children’s brighter future.
Speaking on behalf of all the 20 learners who received shoes, Jabulani Makhanya said they are happy about the donation.
He said having new school shoes means the days of being victims of the cold weather and wearing thorn shoes with their toes touching the ground are over.
“We received the shoes at the best time since the winter is approaching,” said Jabulani.
He thanked the organisation for donating to them.
Principal Lindiwe Vilakazi also thanked the organisation for the donation.
She explained that most of the learners in her school are from families where no one is employed.
“Having new school shoes will encourage my learners to go to school,” said Vilakazi.
