Service delivery march
There was a service delivery march lead by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) to the Tsakane Customer Care Centre and in front of Tsakane Mall on Tuesday.
The EFF members marched from Langaville to hand over a memorandum to James Zondo from the Mayors office and Eskom offices.
The EFF chairperson, Ngubo Mabina says the aim of the protest was to highlight the lack of service delivery in Langaville regarding housing, electricity, corruption and development in general in the area.
Mabina explains the community asked their organisation to lead the march due to concerns of the municipality not communicating and engaging the community in the development of Langaville.
According to Mabina when they marched to Tsakane Mall it was to hand over the memorandum so electricity is received directly from Eskom and not the municipality.
Mabina adds section 26 of the constitution explains everyone has the right to adequate housing and no one may be evicted from their home without an order of court made after considering all the relevant circumstances.
Ward councillor of ward 81, Mtumeleni Ndita explains in the issue of corruption no one has a right to be above the law and the constitution protects the public regarding it.
Ndita adds the projects are introduced and implemented by the government and local councillors are not in a position to employ people from the area, during the Lungile Mtchali Project the government was in charge of the selection process.
He concluded that with regards the other issues the community addressed, the mayor will be responding to the community in the second week of April.
