Ditch causes problems for motorists

Resident Thandi Mabena says the ditch was opened by workers a few weeks ago.

She is not sure whether the workers were private contractors or from the Ekurhuleni Metro.

Mabena does not understand why the ditch was not properly closed and describes it as burden to motorists.

Ward 78 councillor Thoko Gadebe says the ditch was opened by contractors, who have since been delayed by an electricity connection.

Gadebe says the connection will benefit residents in the area and stabilise the electricity supply.

She urges motorists to drive safely along Sam Ngema Drive until the road is repaired.

Gadebe adds the matter has been reported to the relevant department and will hopefully be resolved soon.
