TAC hosts an educational sports day

Tsakane - The Kwatsaduza branch of the TAC (Treatment Action Campaign) held a sports day at Eshlahleni grounds in Marikana Extension 10 on Saturday

The sports day was aimed at educating community members about certain diseases in a fun-filled sporty environment.

Surveys conducted by the TAC revealed that men in the area are still sceptical about being tested and visiting clinics for check-ups.

TAC branch organiser Fikile Mtsweni (43) explained the importance of the sports day, saying most men in the area are not educated about certain

diseases that are an issue in the community.

“Most men living in this area don’t want to go to clinics to get tested and educated about diseases like Tuberculosis,” says Mtsweni.

The TAC wants to involve the men of the community through sports.

Resident Mduduzi Nene (29) was happy with the outcome of the event and the support from the community.

“I’m happy community members embraced this event to get educated while also having fun,” says Nene.

Mtsweni explained they will host more of these sports days in various communities to educate people about different diseases.
