Local church helps orphanage
Tsakane - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in KwaThema gave a helping hand to the Lethukukhanya Care Centre in Withok, Tsakane, on Saturday.
Bishop Joseph Mapamba says they decided to help the centre because they saw it to be ‘more vulnerable’ than other similar organisations in Kwatsaduza.
He says the aim of the initiative was to spend time with the orphans, and clean, do laundry and garden work.
They assisted at the centre during their annual Mormon Helping Hands community service work.
Project manager of the Lethukukhanya Care Centre, Simphiwe Mnisi, says they feel privileged and honoured to be helped by the church.
“To us these moments are treasured as gifts,” she says.
Simphiwe adds they are thankful to the church and hope it was not a once-off project.
