Exposed cable a threat to pedestrians

Langaville - Exposed electricity cables in Langaville Extension Seven pose a danger to pedestrians who use Vlakfontein Road on a daily basis.

Resident Martha Mahlangu says she is worried about the hundreds of school children who walk along the road to and from school.

“I have two daughters who walk to school this way when I am already on my way to work,” she says.

“They are children and do not know the dangers, they could easily grab the cable.”

Ward 78 councillor Ivy Nkosi says the cables are exposed because the Ekurhuleni Metro is waiting for the new financial year in order to be able to continue erecting street lights along the road.

Nkosi says she has reported the matter.
