Library under construction in Tsakane
Tsakane - Bookworms in Extension 11 will soon have a new library.
The construction of the library started in May and is set to be complete next year.
Resident Lulama Bangani (30) is happy a library is being built in the area.
“I hope the library will be utilised properly by the members of the community and that it will have resources for our children to do their assignments and projects,” says Bangani.
Themba Gadebe, spokesperson of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, says the municipality is on a drive to build libraries across Ekurhuleni with an aim to keep up with the Library and Information Association of South Africa’s theme “Connect @ Your Library”.
This theme is believed to resonate with library users as it encourages them to connect with each other, connect with knowledge and information, and the electronic resources, technology and professional support offered at their public library.
