Community given a chance

Duduza – The DA Nigel Constituency hosted a skills development workshop last Saturday in Duduza.

The workshop was an open forum where discussions took place to educate local job seekers on how to compile a CV, what to expect when going for a job interview and where to search for vacancies.

Guest speakers included Clr Tsholofelo Motshidi and Andy Ntokoane from Africa Health Placements.

DA PR Clr Zodwa Radebe says most people in less privileged areas are missing job opportunities merely because of the way they CVs laid out.

“The whole essence of this workshop is to prepare job seekers for employment and how to represent themselves when going for an interview.

“Unemployment is a big issue in South Africa and it is wise that job seekers are skilled and equipped enough to compete in the employment sphere,” says Radebe.

Radebe further says that may people in the community fall victim to scams because of desperation and they need to be extra cautious when applying for jobs.

Noluthando Dube says she has fallen victim to many scams in the past and since then she is sceptical to apply for jobs she sees on some websites and newspapers.

“We are taken advantage off because we are not qualified and would take any job that comes our way.

“I am thankful for this workshop and hope more are conducted so we know what to do,” says Dube.

“The DA will be rolling out these workshops as long as people need assistance,” says Radebe.

On Saturday, February, 6 a workshop will take place in KwaThema at 10am, at Jobba Mission Church.
