Police launch manhunt for killers

KwaThema – The police have launched a manhunt after two friends in their mid 20s were found brutally killed in the area last Tuesday.

According to police, the two males were discovered at about 6.20am by a member of the community near the Ntokozweni Grounds.

“It seems as though the two friends were brutally stabbed to death somewhere else and then dragged to this area where there was long grass.

“Police were able to find a work access card on one of the deceased and upon investigating further, discovered that the first guy had knocked off from work at midnight.

“We also found that the guy who was positively identified did not take the staff bus, but took a maxi taxi which dropped him off at Tshabangu and Kgeletsane streets in the Masimini Section,” says KwaThema SAPS spokesman W/O David Mphali.

He adds that later the driver of the maxi taxi confirmed with the police that the identified deceased was a passenger in his car in the early hours of the morning.

The driver added that he had asked the passenger if it was safe to drop him off, seeing as there was another male close by, but the passenger confirmed that it was his friend who was waiting for him.

Though the police have positive leads, the second man has not yet been positively identified.

However, he had on him keys of the positively identified deceased.

“At this point, the motive of the killings is not yet known and no suspects have been arrested, but a case of murder has been opened.

“The deceased were also found with no cash or cellphones on them, but since the two were obviously communicating before they met, we are unsure if this could have been a robbery that went horribly wrong,” he says.

Anyone with information on this case can contact Detective Constable Lindiwe Tshabalala on 084 521 3055.
