Bringing luxury treatment to the township

KwaThema – Driving to more lush suburbs or urban areas to get your beauty treatments will be a thing of the past for KwaThema residents, thanks to the launch of The Spot Beauty Salon.

Last Saturday partners Gugulethu Twala (31) and Thokozile Jiyane (34) launched their brainchild at Vergenoeg Section in KwaThema.

The two young women expressed their joy, saying it wasn’t an easy journey to set up a beauty spot of this kind in the township, without funding or sponsorship.

“We literally did everything ourselves, from the painting of our walls to the decor and so on.

“It was worth all those long hours and sacrifices we made and today we have a spa we can call our own,” says Twala.

Jiyane is a qualified beauty specialist from Hydro International College and Twala is a self-taught beautician.

With Twala having a large clientele and Jiyane the expertise, it only made sense for them to go into business together, rather than being rivals.

When visiting the beauty house you can treat yourself to a manicure, pedicure, various body massages, facials, make-up, hair treatment, body piercing and even get a tattoo.

The tattoo parlour is an additional business which is managed by tattoo artist, Thami Savage Nogaga.

The spot also promises clients affordable prices and quality service.

“We did our market research and we have prices that are competitive. We wanted every woman to be able to afford a day at the spa without going having to dig too deep in their pockets,” say the partners.

Clients have the option of calling to book appointments or walk in any time to get their beauty treatments.

Jiyane and Twala say they look forward to growing their business venture and one day opening a beauty college in the community to develop young people who are interested in the field.

“The launch of the spa has proven to me that dreams do come true if you put in the work.

“I want young women to know they can do anything they put their minds too. They don’t need blessers for them to live their desired lifestyle,” adds Jiyane.

The Spot is opened Monday to Sunday from 8am till late.
