
The tournament took place at the University of Pretoria, Mamelodi Campus, where 14 schools from around Gauteng came to show off their chess skills.
The school came in third position overall, preventing them from heading to the nationals.
Chess coach, Elizabeth Mokone, says she is very proud of her team for making it this far to represent the school and the community of KwaThema at a provincial level.
“Our school principal, Orlando Mpatlanyane is very impressed with the team’s effort and performance,” she adds.
