Student arrests man with firearm and ammunition

Tsakane - A man (age unknown) was arrested on Saturday at about 2pm, by student officer Joel Mokone, who's still under training at Tshwane Police College.

According to police spokesman, Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu, the student was under the command of W/O Jonnyboy Mashale of the Tsakane Police Station.

“It’s alleged that the arrest took place while the students where conducting a stop and search exercise at Tsakane Mall.

“When searching two men, one of them was found in possession of a firearm and live ammunition – for which he failed to produce the license.

“The firearm number was also erased, which resulted in the man’s arrest,” said Mngomezulu.

The suspect will soon appear at the Tsakane Court, while a case of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition is still being investigated by the police.
