“We don’t mess around”
KwaThema - Agape Art and Performing Group is giving the youth an opportunity to showcase their talents and get exposure.

Phiweyinkosi Ndamane (19), who has been a member of the group for the past few years, says that it has made a big difference in his life.
“I am really grateful to Edgar, who I’ve known since primary school, and the other co-founders for starting the group. It gave my passion direction,” he says.
The group focuses mainly on the preforming arts, namely: poetry, hip hop, gum boot dance and acting.

“We are young. And we need a lot of support from the community,” says Ndamane.
New Phases is a hip hop group whose members met at Agape.
Promise Mothapi (20) says that being part of this initiative has taught them not to mess around when they get the opportunity to work (in studio).
“I really believe that we can make a living out of this if we get serious, and put in the time,” he says.
He explains that this is also a platform to inspire others to showcase their talents to the world.
Mothapi says that the first performance with the group made him realise how much more they still need to learn in order to compete on national stages.
