KwaThema – Six men hijacked a Caterpillar grader worth R2.4-million which was used at the construction site along Kgosana Street on Saturday evening.
It is alleged two security guards on their way back to the guard room after patrolling the site were approached by three armed men.
KwaThema police spokesperson Captain Thabo Sibuyi says the suspects allegedly tied up the two guards with shoelaces and took their cellphones.

“They then locked them in a storeroom container where they found their other three accomplices waiting.
“The complainant, Mnyamezela Makhubo, says the guards peeped through the window and saw the suspects driving off with the Caterpillar grader.
“The two managed to free themselves using a scissor they found inside the container and kicked the door open.
“The grader belongs to Mike Slim of Slim Holding Company.
“No shots were fired and no one was injured,” says Sibuyi.
Sibuyi says the grader was recovered in Tsakane on Sunday but no one has been arrested.
“We are calling on residents who know the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward and assist the police with the investigation,” he says.
