Man arrested in Tsakane for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm

A 34-year-old man was arrested during a roadblock for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm on March 26.

Tsakane – Tsakane police spokesperson, Sergeant Lerato Mngomezulu, says members of the police were conducting a roadblock along Jack Phala Street in Extension 12 on Wednesday.

“They stopped a blue Corsa with two occupants and during the search of the vehicle they found two unlicensed firearms.

“The passenger jumped out of the vehicle and ran away.

“We are searching for the other suspect and investigating whether the two have committed crimes using the firearms.

“The arrested suspect will appear in the Tsakane Magistrate’s Court soon,” Mngomezulu says.
