Duduza – A teacher from Asser Maloka Secondary School was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 15-year-old learner.
The matter came to light when the learner mentioned the alleged incident to one of her school friends.
Duduza police spokesperson Sergeant Harry Manaka says it is alleged the incident took place at the teacher’s home in Tsakane last Tuesday.

“The teacher drove to his home with the learner and locked her school books in the vehicle.
“The girl left to go home but later returned and found the teacher in the house.
“He allegedly invited her inside and started making sexual advances and raped her,” he says.
Manaka says the teacher was arrested by the Family, Child and Sexual Unit which deals with sexual offences.
“The teacher was detained at Tsakane SAPS and will appear in court soon.

“Sexual offences are taken very seriously, especially when it involves a minor, and the police will not hesitate to act against any person suspected to have sexually violated another person,” he says.
