Police nab 70 suspects over the weekend

“All crime prevention operations conducted by nine stations of the cluster led to arrests.”

Tsakane – Ekurhuleni Police East Cluster arrested 70 suspects during the past two days for various crimes committed and reported to various police stations within the precinct.

The offences, among others, include murder, shoplifting, dealing in dagga, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle, rape and drunken driving.

Tsakane police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu says the suspects were also arrested for reckless and negligent driving and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

“All crime prevention operations conducted by the nine stations of the cluster led to arrests.

“Also, the working relationship of social crime and communication with our communities encourages the community members to come forward with information about the crime that occurred throughout the cluster,” she explains.

Mngomezulu says the arrested suspects are due to appear in various magistrate courts around the Ekurhuleni East Cluster.
