Unpaid pensioners want their money

“We will not rest until our people receive the money they worked hard for over the years."

Duduza – Leaders of the Unpaid Benefits Campaign (UBC) in Ekurhuleni are calling on unpaid pension fund beneficiaries to come forward and submit their documents.

Since its inception, the organisation has submitted applications of some of the unpaid applicants to different companies.

Peter Maleka says they have given the pension funds administrators in the companies 14 days to respond.

“Each form consists of the codes for the pension funds they are administrating.

“We have also attached ID copies and death certificates for those who have died.

“They don’t have any excuses now but to give us what is rightfully ours, our hard-earned money,” he explains.

The organisation still has other applications to deliver to other administrators through the course of this month.

“We will not rest until our people receive the money they worked hard for over the years.

“We don’t want any promises, but commitments from the administrators. We don’t owe them anything, all we want is our money,” he adds.

Maleka says through the years the beneficiaries tried to fight for their money, but failed either because of outstanding forms or documents.

“We are going for all the administrators and insurances to ensure all the beneficiaries receive their money.

“The administrators transferred our money to unclaimed benefits funds, claiming the beneficiaries didn’t come forward.

“Through the provision of the documents, we are proving that the claims have been made,” he explains.
