Illegal mechanics given 14 days to cease operations

Thirteen spot summonses, 12 notices and three by-law notices were issued, in addition to two vehicles that were impounded.

Tsakane – Following complaints about private people and businesses contravening municipal by-laws in Tsakane, the EMPD and environmental health department swooped in on March 28.

A number of fines and notices were issued to people panel beating and spray painting within a residential area, as well as illegal mechanics operating on sidewalks, causing an inconvenience to pedestrians and road users.

Joe Slovo, Tsakane, Rholihlahla, Nkosi, Dunge, Khotso, Tshweni and Siyabonga streets were the most saturated areas that saw business owners receiving warnings that give them seven to 14 days to cease the illegal practices or face the wrath of the law.

According to EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, 13 spot summonses, 12 notices and three by-law notices were issued, in addition to two vehicles that were impounded.
