Gugulethu walks 10km to raise funds
“I want residents to learn about the different disabilities, causes and get to know the children and to treat them as part of the community."
Tsakane – Gugulethu Msimanga challenged herself to walk 10km in a bid to raise funds for Tsakane Therapeutic Centre last Thursday.
The businesswoman and mentor walked to encourage residents to participate in the upcoming healer thorn charity fun walk next year.
Gugulethu says she decided to be the change she wants to see in her community.

“As part of my charity drive campaign, I visited the centre and was heartbroken that they lacked funds to afford some of the children’s needs.
“I decided to organise a health awareness and fun walk to encourage residents to donate, raise funds and visit the centre.
“I want residents to learn about the different disabilities, causes and get to know the children and to treat them as part of the community.
“It is not comforting to know that some of the children don’t have loved ones visiting them, but through the involvement of the community they will also feel loved.”

Gugulethu urges residents to remember that the survival of the centre depends on the support from the community, especially business people.
“They are as much humans like everyone else, the only difference is that they were born with physical challenges,” she explains.
