Organisation launches #BreakTheSilence campaign
MCG Projects launches 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.
Langaville – Mandla Charles Gininda Projects, in partnership with Mpumelelo Yesizwe Community Organisation, officially launched their 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children at the Eagles Bible Church on Wednesday.
Its theme is ‘Silence Hides Violence – Break The Silence’.
The campaign aims to encourage community members to speak up against women and children abuse and educate men about domestic abuse.

Founder of the organisation Mandla Gininda says men need to be included in the dialogues concerning domestic violence.
“It doesn’t make sense that the victim is the only one to receive counselling but the perpetrator continues with life. This is why we are not winning this fight. I think it is about high time we sit down as men and talk about these things, educate each other and learn to reprimand each other when one steps out of line,” says Gininda.
Attendees were disappointed at the no show of South African Police Services and ward councillor.
“We are very disappointed that the police didn’t pitch, especially for such an event because as it stands the community is losing faith in them, especially when it comes to women and children going missing each and every day,” he says.
The event was attended by the Community Police Forum, Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department, Traditional Healers Organisation with special guest Tshepo Mvulane Moloi.
Const Refiloe Mokabane from the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department says it is not only women who are being abused.

“We must do away with this culture of abuse. There are countless women and children who have been murdered this year alone, but, with that said, men also get abused.
“The community must learn to work with police and law officials to end domestic abuse or abuse of any kind.
“If you are a neighbour and you know that your neighbour is being abused, call the police. You can do so anonymously,” says Mokabane.
