Moyagabo Ledwaba, treasurer of the social club, says the purpose of the event is to bring families together while also giving back to those in need.

“We have been working with Tsakane Old Age Home for a while now and as we all know, Nelson Mandela Day comes once in a year and not everything can be done in one day.

“We then came up with the idea because most events do not cater for children and we wanted to do something different,” says Ledwaba.

Resident Zanele Moraana, who attended the event with family, says: “I think the event was a brilliant idea because it is very inclusive and I was able to bring the entire family with today.

“In most cases we do not get events which cater for children as well and with schools being closed this was very good idea.”

Four-year-old Siyabonga Mabena says he came to have fun with his family and ride a scooter.
