Committee looking to address land challenges

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss unresolved land redistribution issues concerning residents who were relocated from the old Brakpan location several decades ago.

Tsakane – The Maruping Resettlement Committee is requesting asking residents of Tsakane to attend a public meeting scheduled to take place at the Tsakane Library on Thursday from 9am to noon.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss unresolved land redistribution issues concerning residents who were relocated from the old Brakpan location several decades ago.

Committee secretary Nelson Mogudi says: “On Wednesday we as a committee will be submitting a memorandum to the public protector to request her assistance in the community struggle with regards to land redistribution.

“Early last year the community asked the South African Human Rights Commission to step in to assist in this matter which the commission failed to resolve, and which has led to us taking this step.”
