Community safety watch empowers community during 16 Days campaign

Tsakani – An awareness campaign to commemorate the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children campaign was held on November 25.
The event was organised by Samuel Bashin Malinga, founder of Basothong Neighbourhood Watch in Ward 85.
It took place at Nchabeleng Park.

“The International 16 Days of Activism campaign focuses on generating awareness of the negative impact violence and abuse has on women and children.

The event was organised by Samuel Bashin Malinga, founder of Basothong Neighbourhood Watch.

“The message to our community is that we must work together and assist law-enforcement agencies in the fight against gender-based violence,” explained Malinga.
The event was also attended by ward councillor Sipho Sibiya.

“The objective of such an event is to attract all South Africans to be active participants in the fight to eradicate violence against women and children.
“Expand accountability beyond the justice, crime prevention and security cluster to include all government clusters, local and provincial,” he said.
