Christmas comes early for centre

Twenty-three children benefited from the initiative.

Kwa-Thema – McCain Foods in Springs gifted their adopted charity organisation, Tholakele Centre of Hope, with Christmas goodies.
The centre was visited by employees from the local McCain Foods on Friday, who brought along Christmas goodie packs, packs of vegetables, clothes and toiletries for the children.
McCain Springs plant manager Phumeza Nkala said the initiative is part of their corporate social investment programme, as they are involved in numerous community upliftment projects.

Common eye diseases in children

Twenty-three children benefited from the initiative.
Supply chain director Robert McKenna wished everyone a blessed festive season.
“We wish for a safe and blessed festive season for everyone, mostly the children.
“We know Christmas might not be safe since we are battling the pandemic.
“It remains crucial for people to take extra precautions to ensure we are all safe from the virus, so we can all be together next year.”

Community spends time with the vulnerable

Speaking on behalf of the centre, social worker Phumzile Molekoa explained the centre relies on donations to buy food and clothes for its beneficiaries.
“McCain has helped us a lot in that regard.
“We haven’t bought vegetables in a while, so thanks to them.
“The food will be given to the children as we are closing the centre for the holiday season,” she explained.
The children also received Covid-19 packs from the company.
At the moment, the centre is in need of a vehicle for transportation for its benefactors.
