Ekurhuleni ANC mourns Dolly Mokgatle
She founded the Palesa Ya Sechaba Foundation, which worked with Tlakula High School to improve the performance of learners in mathematics, science and accounting.
The ANC in Ekurhuleni is saddened by the death of veteran businesswomen Dolly Mokgatle.
She held a number of leadership positions in listed and state-owned companies, was the CEO of state rail Spoornet from 2003 to 2005, and was the first black person to be appointed to the position of MD of the Transmission Group at Eskom.
Mokgatle was the director and founder of Peotona Group Holdings, a majority black women-owned company.
In a statement released by the ANC chief whip in Ekurhuleni, Jongizizwe Dlabathi, the party described the veteran as someone who always fought for justice and restoration.

“Mokgatle was a woman who dedicated her entire life fighting against all forms of injustices.
“She always fought for the restoration of human dignity for all.
“She always remembered her community and strived to improve the lives of ordinary citizens.”
Mokgatle was born and bred in Kwa-Thema and attended Tlakula High School.

“We will always be inspired by her passion in education.
“She believed young people are the leaders of tomorrow and must be properly guided and nurtured.
“Surely, we have been robbed of a committed community leader and a true professional.
“Her premature death leaves us with a challenge to continue and fulfil the work we have already started: to continue with the gains of changing the lives of the younger generation for the better.
“The office of the chief whip extends its heartfelt and sincere condolences to the family, friends, business, academia and legal fraternity for the loss.”
