According to residents, the blockage was causing havoc when it rains, making using the street extremely difficult.
“The challenge we faced was that if it rained the water pools up until it dries, so imagine when it rained more than one day.

Using the street becomes a huge challenge, especially for residents.
“One could not walk here without getting wet and it was unsafe for the children as well,” said resident Sabelo Gumbi.
He added that residents must refrain from littering and throwing rubbish in the drains.
“We cannot solely put the blame on the metro, we must also take responsibility for our own actions. We need to change our behaviour and start doing better.
“Such things end up affecting us and our daily lives.”
