Geluksdal – Thandolwethu Soup Kitchen is in desperate need of help, following a break-in at the soup kitchen.
The culprits took a nine kilogram gas cylinder, pots and other utensils.
The soup kitchen hasn’t been able to operate since the burglary, which took place on January 19.
The initiative is that of senior citizens from Extension Two and started operating in September last year.

“I am beyond traumatised with what occurred at our soup kitchen.
“This place is meant to feed part of our community who cannot afford food, for someone to be so heartless and inconsiderate is beyond me.
“Now how are we supposed to help those in need?” asked Lechokoene.
She added that since the incident she has been living in constant fear.
Lechokoene would, however, like to continue catering for the poor.

“At the moment for us to continue with the soup kitchen we need people to lend a helping hand.
“We no longer have pots and we need that gas cylinder to be able to cook and boil water.
“The kitchen benefited a lot of children, most of whom take care of their siblings and have no one to care for them,” she stated.
People are urged to donate kitchen utensils, food and pots.
The kitchen is situated at 3158 Shosholoza Street in Geluksdal and can be contacted on 073 573 2795 or 071 928 2296.
