Driver killed after bakkie plunges into stream

“A search ensued and the lifeless body of a man was found trapped inside the vehicle."

Duduza – Local police are investigating the circumstances leading to the death of an unidentified man found trapped inside a vehicle that plunged into a stream along the R550 road next to Driemanskap.
Police were alerted by passersby who noticed the vehicle on its roof in the water.
Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said on arrival, police found a silver Mazda Drifter double cab bakkie in the stream a few metres from the main road.

“Police could not access the vehicle as the water current was too strong and the SAPS Waterwing Unit was called to the scene to assist.
“A search ensued and the lifeless body of a man was found trapped inside the vehicle.
“The man has not been identified and it is suspected he may have lost control of the vehicle,” he explained.

The driver’s body was recovered from the vehicle.

The vehicle’s registration number is HN 47 GP GP.
Police are calling for any person who may have information on the identity of the deceased to contact the Duduza SAPS on 071 675 7027 or 082 828 6048.
