Operation yields 28 arrests in Kwa-Thema

Kwa-Thema – Twenty-eight people were arrested during a High Density Operation conducted in the Kwa-Thema area on Saturday.
The operation comprised different law enforcement agencies such as the EMPD and different SAPS units, including the K9 Unit and Crime Intelligence.
Arrests were made for various offences, including possession of suspected drugs, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of dangerous weapons, as well as offences under the Disaster Management Act.

Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said the focus of the operation was on drunk driving, vehicle checks, drugs and firearms, illegal liquor trade and contravention of the Disaster Management Act.
“The operation also sought to increase visibility as a way of preventing crime in the area.
“All arrested suspects will appear before the Kwa-Thema Magistrate’s Court during the week,” he said.
