Duduza – As public schools kickstarted their 2021 educational journey, learners from James Nkosi Primary School in Duduza were told to stay at home until February 22.
Parents arrived at the premises on Monday to find a notice on the gate informing them not to send their children to school.
It is alleged three of the school’s staff members have tested positive for Covid-19.

When the African Reporter visited the school, learners were seen playing soccer and sharing a packet of slap chips on the pavement.
Grade Three learner Siphamandla Mtshweni said he was disappointed when his parents told him he won’t be going to school on Monday.
“We are bored at home and envy other learners when they go to school in the morning,” he said.
Concerned parent Margret Matlala said it is unfortunate the children could not join their peers on Monday.

“Even though this is for their health, they are going to be behind with their schoolwork.
“We are hoping the school will devise a catch-up plan for them.
“They have been at home for two months now and by the time they go back to school they would have forgotten what they learnt the previous year.
“I am hoping they won’t be interrupted going forward and pray there won’t be any Covid-19 cases,” she said.
