
Tsakani – The local SAPS has intensified the fight against crime in the area.
This is in response to the worrisome crime stats recently released by minister of police Bheki Cele.
In the crime stats, the station appeared in the top 30 stations for sexual violence, rape, carjacking and drunk driving.

The initiatives to tackle crime have been spearheaded by the Social Crime Prevention Unit.
Tsakani police spokesperson Lerato Mngomezulu said they will continue striving to make the community safe.
“The fight continues and we are encouraging residents to join hands with the police to fight crime.
“We have intensified the education to woman and children about sexual offences, and we have joined hands and partnered with other stakeholders to educate men and boys from an early age to refrain from committing these offences,” she said.

She added as part of their campaign, they offer regular talks on the local radio station, at the mall and at other public gatherings.
“We are urging residents to abide by the law and refrain from sitting in their cars at night, drinking and driving and, most importantly, not to sexually violate others,” she added.
