Elders pampered on Valentine’s Day
“In the past week, the residents of Tsakani experienced water outages. We felt it would be nice to offer our services to help relieve their stress.”
Tsakani – Elderly people at Tsakani Society for the Care of the Aged were pampered on Valentine’s Day by a local businesswoman.
A local beauty spa in the area offered to brighten their day in the form of manicures, pedicures and massages.
Spa owner Nontobeko Skhosana said the elderly still need to feel loved and appreciated.

Initially, she wanted to donate the services to a matric dance event at one of the high schools in the area but decided that the elders need the services more.

“In the past week, the residents of Tsakani experienced water outages. We felt it would be nice to offer our services to help relieve their stress.
“It was painful to see some elders with long, uncut nails. This shows that they needed the services to avoid developing infections on their toes,” she explained.
Nontobeko urged residents to visit the centres regularly.
“Unlike us, the elders don’t always have contact with the outside world and often feel left out while life continues.
“We should all make sure that they feel like they are still part of the community,” she explained.
