Learners urged to read
The organisation donated 60 copies of brand-new reading books for the school to add to its library.
Kwa-Thema – Learners at Lefa-Ifa Secondary School received book donations from the Kwa-Thema Socio Economic Organisation (KTSEO) on Monday.
The organisation donated 60 copies of brand-new reading books for the school to add to its library.
Executive member of the organisation Andries Nkabinde said as an institution that promotes education, they saw it important for them to make this contribution.
“Without education, our country is doomed. Reading forms a major part of learning as it develops the mind and enhances learners’ vocabulary.

“Therefore, with this contribution, we want to encourage learners to read,” explained Nkabinde.
The school’s head of department for English first additional language, Lindiwe Phela, said the books would make a difference in advancing learners’ education.
Tessa Arends, the subject advisor for English, said parents must play an active role in their children’s education.
“Parents must motivate their children to read.
“Also, learners must unplug from their phones and grab a book to learn new concepts, become informed and stimulate creativity and imagination,” she said.
