Miss teen to represent SA in Dominican Republic

She walked away with a cash prize of R5 000 and will be representing South Africa in the Dominican Republic later this year.

Duduza – Sixteen-year-old Boitumelo Wilson was crowned the first princess at the Miss Teen Grand South Africa 2022 pageant at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton on Saturday.
She walked away with a cash prize of R5 000 and will represent South Africa in the Dominican Republic later this year.
“I couldn’t believe it. It has been such an amazing journey, and I have grown a lot having to represent Ekurhuleni and Sedibeng.
“I am no longer a young girl but have grown into a young lady who inspires to aspire,” said Wilson.

She entered the competition to inspire her peers in her community and neighbouring townships.
However, Wilson noted the journey wasn’t easy.
“The competition was a tough one. We had girls taking part from different provinces. I can say over 18 beautiful and intelligent girls, so for me to make it into the top three was indeed a blessing,” she said.
Wilson used to feel insecure about herself, but with the support of her family and friends, she built her confidence for the better.
“I was crowned Miss Face of Spicy Model and Miss Duduza in 2018.
“This is where I reached for my dreams of one day being crowned Miss South Africa and Miss World,” she added.
Her dream is to become a political lawyer and serve her country.
