Tsakani NPO adds girl empowerment dialogue to its initiatives

Youngsters given the opportunity to express themselves.

Tsakani – Empowering young girls were the focus of a recent dialogue hosted by local NPO We Can Do This Community Project.
The workshop, with the theme Open Topic, was held at 22074 Vukuzenzele Street in Tsakani on March 30.
The founder of the organisation, Matshidiso Silinda, said young people have difficulties having open and honest discussions with their parents.

“The platform gives an opportunity for them to ask whatever questions they are afraid to talk about with their parents. We know that it isn’t always easy especially for teenagers to have a heart to heart with elders.
“Therefore, I am hoping that through this initiative we can engage interactively with them and that this space enables them to grow and have a better understanding of the world around them,” she explained.
The event was also attended by motivational speakers Patrick Khumalo and Njabulo Ngwenya.
She added that they will be introducing the dialogue sessions monthly, with the inclusion of boys’ talks as well.
